Executive pay cuts for bailed-out companies

The Obama administration is ordering a cut in executive salaries for seven companies that received the most bailout money under the Troubled Asset Relief Program. The companies are AIG, Citigroup, Bank of America, GM, Chrysler, and the two financing arms of the automakers- GMAC and Chrysler Financial. The action would reduce total compensation for the 25 highest-paid executives at each company 50% from what they received last year. In addition, the cash portion of executive salaries would be cut by 90%, to be replaced by stock that cannot be sold for years.
