Deliver Us From Evil
In her new film, "Deliver Us From Evil," documentarian, Amy Berg, delves into the story of Father Oliver O'Grady, a notorious pedophile who raped dozens of children in Northern California over the course of twenty years. After his incarceration and deportation, Berg persuaded O'Grady to participate in the making of her film. Larry Mantle talks with Berg, Anny Jyono, one of O'Grady’s victims, and Tod Tamberg of the LA Catholic Archdiocese about corruption and child abuse within the Catholic church.
This I Believe
Based on the weekly NPR series of the same name, This I Believe features eighty essayists, both famous and unknown, who complete the thought that begins the book's title. Larry talks with Dan Gediman, executive producer of the radio series and co-editor of the book, about the pieces which inspire readers to think about how they have arrived at their own personal beliefs. Well-known contributors include: Isabel Allende, Colin Powell, Gloria Steinem, William F. Buckley Jr., Penn Jillette, Bill Gates, and John Updike. The collection also contains essays by a Brooklyn lawyer; a part-time hospital clerk from Rehoboth, Massachusetts; a woman who sells Yellow Pages advertising in Fort Worth, Texas; and a man who serves on the state of Rhode Island's parole board.
