Israel to Accept Partition of Jerusalem?
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas are both gearing up for a US-sponsored peace conference scheduled for next month. Senior Israeli officials are expected to express support for the transfer of Arab parts of Jerusalem to Palestinian control. While this falls short of Palestinian demands, it may provide the first building block towards improving the situation in that conflict-torn city.
