Town Hall Forum in Long Beach: Pier J Port Expansion
Officials from the Port of Long Beach, and the City Council, environmental groups, business and citizens, continue to discuss concerns raised over the expansion of Pier J, even after the Port of Long Beach Board of Commissioners rescinded the current Environmental Impact Report. Everyone agrees that the Port must expand to handle cargo increases, but how to do this in the cleanest way possible is at issue. Residents, business and environmental groups are working hard to find common ground. At issue is air quality versus jobs and the backlog of shipping traffic waiting to come into the port. Host Larry Mantle takes “AirTalk” on the road to the Honda Theatre in the Aquarium of the Pacific to hold a Town Hall Forum on the controversial expansion.
