Recall 101: A Last Look At The Pros And Cons
A Last Look At The Pros And Cons: What were the original arguments put forth to recall the Governor and how are his supporters defending him against these charges. Larry Mantle takes a last look at the arguments for and against the recall with Shawn Steele, former chair of the California Republican Party and cofounder of the Davis Recall Campaign, and Jackie Goldberg, California State Assemblymember for the 45th District.
Proposition 54
This proposition would amend the state Constitution to stop state agencies from classifying individuals on the basis of race, ethnicity, color or national origin. Exemptions would allow for continued collection of some data to comply with federal law, to establish or maintain eligibility for federal programs and for certain medical research and law enforcement purposes. Larry Mantle talks with Joe Hicks, Human Rights Consultant and Vice President of Community Advocates, and Director and Western regional Council of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
Proposition 53
Drafted by Democratic Assemblyman Joe Canciamilla of Pittsburg and Republican Keith Richman Northridge, Prop. 53 would direct as much as 3% of the state's main pool of tax revenue into a special fund to pay for improvements to infrastructure. Larry Mantle discusses Proposition 53 with Dave Kersten, Campaign Coordinator for the No on Proposition 53 Campaign, and Dr. Keith Richman, a California Assemblyman representing the 38th district.
