LA County Health Services Department chief, Dr. Bruce Chernof, is expected to present the Board of Supervisors with a proposal to place the King-Drew Medical Center under the control of Harbor-UCLA Medical Center near Torrance in order to keep the Willowbrook hospital operating as a public facility. Getty Update

A probe of the J. Paul Getty Trust by the state Attorney General has concluded that some money was spent improperly but further penalties will not be imposed against the trust. However, the state has appointed an independent monitor to be certain the foundation follows thorough on a list of reforms. FCC Reviews Media Ownership Rules

Beginning today, the Federal Communications Commission is holding public hearings in Los Angeles as part of a formal review of media ownership rules. This is the first in a series of hearings to be held across the country by the FCC, to public input on this heated issue.
