The Supreme Court begins its new term today. Justices will rule on issues that have sharply split past sessions, such as abortion and race. Larry Mantle speaks with legal experts Eugene Volokh, Professor of Law at the UCLA School of Law, Charles Doskow, Dean Emeritus and Professor of Law, University of La Verne College of Law, about the cases on the docket and what's happening behind the scenes.

Proposition 85

This initiative would amend the California Constitution to prohibit abortion for minors until 48 hours after a physician notifies her parent, or legal guardian, except in medical emergencies or with a parental waiver. The language of this initiative is slightly altered from a similar proposal California voters rejected, 53 to 47 percent, in 2005. Larry talks with a proponent and an opponent of the measure which will appear on the November 2006 ballot.
