President Bush chose White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales to succeed Attorney General John Ashcroft, who resigned yesterday. Gonzales is controversial, because he authored a 2002 memo that claimed the right to waive certain parts of anti-torture laws. NPR’s Senior Washington editor, Ron Elving, joins Host Larry Mantle to discuss the appointment of Gonzales, as well as the appointment of Don Evans as Commerce Secretary.

Tunneling Technology
