After nearly five years, the renovated and expanded Griffith Observatory opens to the public on Friday. The 71-year-old Beaux-Arts architectural icon has been painstakingly preserved thanks to a $93 million renovation which includes a new planetarium, theater, cafe, classroom, bookstore and more than 60 exhibits.
