Stacy Schiff’s new biography of Benjamin Franklin begins were many previous volumes left off, as the seventy year old statesman set sail for France. His mission was simple; secure an absolute monarchy’s assistance in founding a republic. Larry talks with Schiff about her book which chronicles this little known chapter in American History, Franklin’s eight years in France.
