Diabetes in Children

AirTalk for May 25, 2007

When diabetes strikes during childhood, it is routinely assumed to be type 1, or juvenile-onset diabetes. Larry Mantle talks with Dr. Francine Kaufman of the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, Dr. Jonathan Fielding, of the LA County Department of Health Services, Marlene Canter, Los Angeles Unified School Board President, and Elizabeth Medrano of the Center for Food and Justice at Occidental College, about the alarming rise in diabetes in children and the challenges this epidemic poses for all concerned.
