The verdicts in the fraud and conspiracy trial of former Enron executives Kenneth Lay and Jeffrey Skilling are in. On the sixth day of deliberations in one of the biggest business scandals in U.S. history, jurors in Houston found Skilling guilty of conspiracy to commit securities and wire fraud. Lay was found guilty on all counts. Host Larry Mantle gets the latest from Paul Pendergraft, News Director for Houston Public Radio (KUHF) and UC Irvine Business professor Peter Navarro.

California's High School Exit Exam Is Reinstated

The California Supreme Court decided yesterday to reinstate California's high school exit exam as a graduation requirement for this year's senior class. The fate of tens of thousands of high school seniors who failed the test remains unclear at this point. Larry gets the latest from State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell.

Vicente Fox's Visit and US/Mexico Relations

Mexican President Vicente Fox finishes his U.S. trip with a visit to California today and tomorrow. He plans to speak to a joint session of the state legislature this afternoon, and will meet with Governor Schwarzenegger after that. The Governor has said he plans to tell Fox that Mexico needs to do more to stop immigrants from coming into the U.S. The trip comes as illegal immigration has resurfaced as one of the nation's top political issues, prompting calls by conservatives for tighter borders and rallies for immigrants' rights in the nation's major cities. Larry Mantle talks with LA Times staff writers Peter Nicholas and Sam Quinones.
