Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Councilman Jack Weiss have announced their opposition to HR 5005, a federal bill known as the "Firearms Corrections and Improvements Act", which they said would weaken the ability of law enforcement agencies to trace guns back to their owners. Larry talks with Councilman Weiss about the city ordinance he will introduce that would require stiff penalties for gun owners who fail to report lost or stolen weapons. He also talks with Chuck Michel, an attorney for the California Rifle and Pistol Association.

Robert Rauschenberg Exhibit at MOCA

"Robert Rauschenberg: Combines" is the first major exhibition devoted solely to the most influential and groundbreaking works of one of America's greatest contemporary artists. Rauschenberg invented the "Combine," a hybrid medium best described as a combination of painting and sculpture. Larry talks with Paul Schimmel, Chief Curator of MOCA, about the exhibit which features more than 70 works, drawn from public and private collections.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the LA Conservancy's Last Remaining Seats film series. What began as a three day lecture series is now a summer tradition, with screenings of classic films and live entertainment, in the historic movie palaces of Los Angeles. Larry talks with Linda Dishman, Executive Director of the Conservancy, about the history of the Last Remaining Seats series and the films being showcased this year.
