BEACHES

AirTalk for May 23, 2003

Summer is coming, and it is time to go to the beach. The California coastline is dotted with fabulous beaches but which ones boast the cleanest water, nicest facilities, best surf, or allow camping? Larry Mantle discusses the state of Southern California beaches in terms of water quality and cleanliness with Heal the Bay's Mark Gold, who will share the results of the organization's recently published annual beach report card. Larry also speaks with beach expert Parke Puterbaugh, co-author of California Beaches: The Best Places to Swim, Play, Eat, and Stay on the Coast (From the Foghorn Outdoors series, Avalon Travel Press), joins Larry to talk about the diversity of experiences one can have on the beaches lining the California coast.
