Making Elder Care Decisions Today
As baby boomers age and the average life span continues to increase, greater numbers of older Americans and their children are facing crucial decisions about elder care. Larry talks with Julie Schoen of the Council on Aging Orange County, Michael Bader of My SeniorCare Advisors, Blanche Katz, gerontological nurse practitioner and elder care educator, and Sally Little of Southern California Presbyterian Homes, about the practical, financial, and emotional challenges facing aging adults who can no longer live independently, as well as the challenges facing the family members who care for them. This special program comes to you live from Regents Point Continuing Care Community in Irvine. Resources include the Orange County Office on Aging (1-800-510-2020), the Family Caregiver Alliance (1-800-445-8106), The California HealthCare Foundation, the California Department of Aging, the California Commission on Aging, the Alzheimer's Association, the Orange Caregiver Resource Center, and Eldercare Locator.
The Life and Work of Leni Riefenstahl
Larry talks to author Steven Bach about the woman best known as "Hitler's filmmaker," Leni Riefenstahl, one of the most fascinating and controversial personalities of the twentieth century. In his new biography, Leni: The Life and Work of Leni Riefenstahl (Knopf), Bach reveals the truths and lies behind this gifted woman's lifelong self-vindication as an apolitical artist who claimed she knew nothing of the Holocaust and denied her complicity with the criminal regime she both used and sanctified. In this story of huge talent and huger ambition, Bach probes the sometimes blurred borders dividing art and beauty from truth and humanity.
