Governor to Propose Privatization of California Lottery

The state would lease the lottery in exchange for a large payment or series of payments, evidently to remedy current budget shortfalls. Palmer, Deputy Director of External Affairs for the California Department of Finance, and with Michael Jones, Director of Independent Lottery Research.

The Labour leader was 43 years old when he took office in 1997, ending 18-years of Tory rule in Britain. Since his premiership began, Blair has led the British through the death of Princess Diana, the return of Hong Kong to Chinese rule, and through the Iraq war, which ultimately proved to be politically disastrous for him. Larry talks with Kal Raustiala, director of the Burkle Center for International Relations at UCLA, and with Catherine Mayor, London Bureau Chief for Time Magazine about Blair's impact and significance.
Republicans Warn Bush about Iraq
Larry Mantle talks with Doyle McManus of the L.A. Times about the private meeting that took place this week between moderate Republicans, senior administration officials, and President Bush about the war in Iraq. The President was given a warning that if conditions in Iraq did not improve by the Fall, he would increasingly lose support from Republicans.
