Immediately after two hijacked jets struck the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center on September 11th, retired firefighter Dennis Smith reported to Manhattan Ladder Co. 16 to volunteer in the rescue effort. Among the missing were many of Smith's long-time colleagues and friends. Larry Mantle talks with author and retired firefighter Dennis Smith about his new book that chronicles the rescue efforts undertaken directly after the attack and during the 3-month period that followed.
