Massive protests occurred in Paris against ultra-conservative Presidential candidate Jean-Marie Le Pen, who beat out Prime Minister Lionel Jospin in the French primary, and faces President Jacques Chirac in the runoff on Sunday. Le Pen is not expected to win, but many French are alarmed by the seemingly sudden success of an extreme nationalist, protectionist candidate with an anti-immigrant platform.
