Obama's new Afghan plan
President Obama said he plans to send an additional 4,000 troops to Afghanistan to train Afghan security forces as part of a new war strategy in the region. In his speech, the president vowed to "disrupt, dismantle and defeat'' the terrorist al-Qaida network in Afghanistan and neighboring Pakistan. The newest deployment will bring the total number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan to about 60,000.
Ban on Billboards
The Los Angeles Planning Commission has approved a new ordinance that would ban digital billboard in most parts of the city. The law also restricts the size of signs, which means new billboards will be significantly smaller then those in place today. The ordinance would also affect the signs on store front windows. Signs and billboards already approved would not be affected by the new ordinance. The commission has forwarded the ordinance to the City Council. Larry investigates if this new ordinance will actually help the visual landscape of Los Angeles.
