THE ISRAELI ELECTIONS

AirTalk for March 24, 2006

Acting Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is widely expected to win in Tuesday’s election. In an interview Thursday, Olmert gave the clearest signal yet of how the next Israeli government will look if his Kadima party wins the vote. Kadima holds a wide lead in opinion polls but will likely need help from smaller parties to form a majority coalition government in the Israeli parliament. Larry and his guests discuss the possible outcomes of the Israeli election and what they would mean to the Mid-east peace process and Israeli-American relations. Larry talks with Laura King, Jerusalem bureau chief for the Los Angeles Times and Steven Cook, Fellow at the Council of Foreign Relations and an expert on Middle East Politics.
