Long Term Care Insurance

AirTalk for March 24, 2005

You may have thought about where you will be in five- or ten year’s time, but have you ever wondered who will take care of you when you get old or need to be placed in a home? You may not know that most insurance plans do not cover long-term health care. Don’t panic! There are insurance plans you can buy to prepare for old age, or for a devastating situation, but they cost a lot. Marilee Driscoll, author of “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Long-Term Care Planning”, and the founder of the National Long-Term Care Planning Week, joins Larry to talk about how to plan for long-term care, so that you don’t go bankrupt or burden your children with huge bills.

Dinah Shore Golf Tournament

AirTalk for March 24, 2005

The Dinah Shore Golf tournament began in Palm Springs in 1972, with TV personality Dinah Shore hosting. The Ladies (PGA) Professional Golf Association event quickly grew into a major lesbian extravaganza, attracting thousands of women to Palm Springs for a weekend of pool parties and frolicking. Michele Kort, a senior editor at Ms magazine, has been to the Dinah Shore Golf tournament, and—lucky for us—she wrote about it in her new book DINAH! Three Decades of Sex, Golf, and Rock ‘n’ Roll. Michele Kort joins Larry to talk about this golf tournament and what Kort calls the annual “Sapphic rite of spring” in Palm Springs.
