Heroin Distribution Hub Dismantled

On Wednesday the Los Angeles Police Department announced a major drug investigation that dismantled an entrenched drug-distribution network. Larry talks with Los Angeles Times staff reporter Richard Winton about the 10-month investigation that recovered over 45,000 heroin-filled balloons as well as 85 pounds of "tar" heroin that could have been diluted into a half-million single-hit balloons, thus eliminating a major supplier of illicit drugs from the region.

Study On Governance And Finance Reforms For K-12 Public Schools

Getting Down to Facts, the first half of a new education study was released Wednesday, combines more than 20 studies and is designed to provide California's policy-makers with a comprehensive overview and analysis of the state's school finance and governance systems. Larry discusses the findings, which focus on how existing funds are used and if they could be used more effectively with one of the study's authors, Michael Kirst, who is a professor of Education at Stanford. Also joining the conversation are Democratic State Senator Jack Scott, UTLA president A.J. Duffy, and Scott Himelstein, Acting Secretary of Education.
