Pink Friday
Teachers across California are wearing pink this Friday as part of a protest to the more than 25,000 educators who are expected to receive pink slips on March 15. In some districts children are being encouraged to wear pink as well. Is this appropriate? AirTalk guest host David Lazarus takes listener calls on the question.
Electricity Rates May Rise
The California Public Utilities Commission agreed Thursday to a demand for increases in electric rates requested by Southern California Edison. The utility argued that it needs about $100 more annually from each customer to meet the needs of a fast-growing economy and population base in southern California. Consumer advocates who claim the rate hikes are unnecessary and excessive argued that under current economic conditions Edison will actually have fewer new customers than before. David Lazarus talks about the controversy with Mark Toney of The Utility Reform Network.
