Health Dialogues
AirTalk continues the Health Dialogues series on health issues that affect California. Larry Mantle examines the other side of Proposition 36, the measure overwhelmingly approved by California voters in November 2000 advocating treatment for addicts instead of incarceration, by speaking with those on the treatment side, including counselors and Prop. 36 defendants in recovery. The program begins with a special report from KPCC's Rachael Myrow on Prop. 36 in its ninth month of implementation. Guests include: Russ Heimerich, spokesman for the Department of Corrections; Dr. Cindy Flynn, licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the treatment of chemical dependency and primary counselor at New Directions for Women; "Sheila," a client at New Directions; and, Jim Stillwell from Impact in Pasadena.
The Submerged Cultural Resources Unit of the National Park Service
Larry Mantle talks with Daniel Lenihan, author, archaeologist, and diver for the National Park Service about his new adventure-memoir, Submerged (Newmarket Press), that records the historic and social significance of the underwater research programs conducted by this unit of the U. S. National Park Service.
Sting
Larry Mantle talks with "Sting" about his Academy award nomination for Best Original Song "Until" from Kate and Leopold, his recent album "All This Time," recorded live on September 11th, and about his long and successful career in the music industry.
