Rep. Adam Schiff On What The Federal Stimulus Means For LA And The Ongoing Capitol Insurrection Investigation

Yesterday President Biden signed into law the $1.9 trillion federal stimulus bill, which will include checks sent to individual Americans and $1.35 billion headed directly to the City of Los Angeles.

The money could help the city to pay off debts and cover coronavirus-related expenses, as well as support struggling workers and businesses. Today on AirTalk, we’re joined by Rep. Adam Schiff to hear more about what the stimulus could mean for Los Angeles, and how the money might help the city recover. We’ll also get the latest on the investigations into the January 6 Capitol Insurrection with the congressman.

FilmWeek And Chill: How ‘The Incredibles’ Changed The Game For Animated Films

While the pandemic forced us to press pause on our LA-centric FilmWeek Screening Series at the Theatre at Ace Hotel, we refused to be denied the opportunity to convene and have some fun during an otherwise challenging time. To that end, we kicked off a new virtual event series, FilmWeek & Chill. For our first FilmWeek & Chill event, Larry chose one of his all-time favorite films: Disney/Pixar’s 2004 Oscar-winning animated superhero adventure The Incredibles. Written and directed by Brad Bird and featuring a memorable score composed by Michael Giacchino, The Incredibles is beloved by many for a script that effortlessly transitions from heartfelt to serious to witty, an all-star voice cast that includes Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson and Jason Lee and for its broad appeal to kids and adults alike, taking on themes like the importance of family and being proud of who you are, even if others can’t or won’t understand you. This week during FilmWeek, you’ll hear a portion of the conversation. You can watch the entire discussion here.

We also want to invite you to future FilmWeek & Chill virtual events. Keep an eye on the KPCC In Person page for details to come! You’re also invited to our annual Oscar preview show on Sunday, April 18. It’s all virtual this year. Click here to reserve your spot.
