Larry talks with judicial experts about possible conflicts of interest raised recently by reports that Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia has taken hunting trips with Vice President Dick Cheney and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has lent her name and presence to a series of lectures cosponsored by NOW. The code of conduct for the federal courts warns jurists to steer clear of outside legal activities jeopardize impartiality but does not set clear rules for judges’ involvement. Larry talks with John Eastman, Professor of Constitutional Law at Chapman University and Director of the Claremont Institute Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence, and Richard Painter, the Guy Raymond and Mildred Van Voorhis Jones Professor of Law, University of Illinois College of Law.
