Democratic Budget Strategy
Now that Propositions 57 and 58 have passed, is California out of the woods? ~Not by a long shot. A $14 billion budget gap still exists for the fiscal year starting on July 1st, and Democrats think that new taxes are necessary to deal with it. But, the Governor has stated, categorically, that he will not raise taxes. So, cuts are inevitable. But what will be cut? Also, the Democrats are going to hold “efficiency hearings” as way to streamline government. Joining Host Larry Mantle to discuss this is Jack Scott, Democratic State Senator representing California’s 21st district. He chairs the Senate Budget Subcommittee on Education.
