In a direct challenge to President Bush, House Democrats unveiled legislation Thursday requiring the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Iraq by the Fall of 2008. Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the deadline would be added to legislation providing nearly $100 billion the Bush administration has requested for fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Larry talks with Democratic Congressman and Member of the House Budget Committee Xavier Becerra about the legislation and its upcoming vote.

Hormone Phase-Out of California Milk

California Dairies, Inc., a co-op which produces 4 of every 10 glasses of milk in California, is dropping rBST, a synthetic bovine growth hormone that increases milk production in cows, as a direct result of pressure from supermarket chains and their consumers who show an increasing preference for more organic or natural foods. The hormone, manufactured by Monsanto, has not shown evidence of harming humans. Larry talks with Richard Cotta, President and CEO of California Dairies about the phase-out.
