The results are in from yesterday's election in Los Angeles. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was reelected to a second term, and Councilwoman Wendy Greuel won her bid to be city controller. Jack Weiss and Carmen Trutanich received the largest shares of votes for city attorney, now to be decided in a run-off on May 19. The fate of Measure B, the $3 billion solar energy proposal is still unknown. Larry Mantle discusses the election results with Phil Willon from the L.A. Times and speaks with Jack Weiss and Carmen Trutanich.

Health Insurance & Autism Coverage

Therapy for children with autism is expensive and can go on for years, but health insurance typically covers very little of it. In many states this is changing, as legislation goes into effect that mandates health insurance coverage for autism treatments. Health insurance companies in California say they do cover some autism treatments, but they say the bulk of autism therapies are educational, and not a medical necessity. Larry Mantle talks about the debate with Charles Bacchi of the California Association of Health Plans, and Scott Glovsky, an attorney in Pasadena, California.

Prop. 8 Constitutionality Argued in California Supreme Court

Manny Ramirez And The Dodgers Make a Deal

Sources are confirming that Manny Ramirez and the L.A. Dodgers have reached a deal, ending a four-month negotiation process. The two sides agreed to a two-year, $45 million contract that includes an opt-out option for Ramirez after his first year. The deal has not yet been announced publicly, pending Ramirez passing a physical. Larry Mantle talks about the developments with Bill Shaikin, national baseball writer for the LA Times.
