State Lawmakers Strike Budget Deal
Larry Mantle talks with KPCC State Capital bureau reporter Tamara Keith about recent developments in Sacramento including the yesterday's budget deal, the special legislative session on California prison reform and the schools bill that would give LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa more control over the Los Angeles schools.
Supreme Court Takes on Greenhouse Gas Regulation
The Supreme Court said it would decide whether carbon dioxide from automobiles should be treated as a pollutant harmful to health. The case pits the Bush administration against a dozen state governments and could determine how the nation addresses global warming. Larry Mantle talks about the case and its possible implications with David Doniger of the NRDC and Kenneth Green of AEI.
Stumbling on Happiness
Don't worry, be happy. Since it's what we all strive for, why do we often fail to know what will make us happy in the future. Larry talks with Harvard psychology professor Daniel Gilbert, author of "Stumbling on Happiness," about why we make some pretty basic, and consistent, mistakes when envisioning the future.
