Late last week, federal officials unexpectedly announced a ban on bottom fishing off most of the California Coast, and announced intentions to expand the ban to Oregon and Washington in the very near future. The intent is to protect nine species of rockfish, also known as red snapper, whose numbers are dwindling. Larry Mantle talks about why this drastic measure was taken, and also what lies ahead for commercial fishermen, hundreds of who will be soon out of work.
