"The Get" Or The Perils Of Checkbook Journalism
What does it take to score an interview with Jessica Lynch? Patt Morrison and media expert Marty Kaplan talk about the most sought-after interview of the moment, one with rescued former POW Jessica Lynch and how CBS News is involved in high stakes competition for a chance to talk to Lynch by offering her book and movie deals combined with a two hour documentary about her ordeal.
The Empty Ocean
Guest host Patt Morrison talks with Richard Ellis about his compelling new book The Empty Ocean, which chronicles man's plundering of marine life over the centuries. This plundering has been increasing almost exponentially, and scientists now fear that some marine species may never recover. Patt Morrison also talks with Milton Love, research biologist at the Marine Science institute, UC SB. He is also the author of The Rock Fishes of the Northeast Pacific.
Machu Picchu
Yale explorer Hiram Bingham "rediscovered" the lost Inca city of Machu Picchu in 1911. Situated in the Andes Mountains of Peru, Machu Picchu is a 4-hour train ride from the ancient Inca capital of Cuzco. Archaeologists excavated the five-square-mile complex, which they decided was the Inca Emperor's personal retreat. Guest host Patt Morrison speaks with Dr. Karen Wise, the Natural History Museum's curator of Latin American archaeology about the largest exhibit of Inca artifacts to tour the U.S. Machu Picchu: Unveiling the Mystery of the Incas opens at the LA Natural History Museum on June 22nd. The exhibit runs through September 7th. Have you ever been to Machu Picchu? Give us a call and tell us what it was like to visit Machu Picchu.
