Federal Funding for the Martin Luther King Junior Harbor Hospital (formerly King Drew) may be cut if the hospital can't fix its problems by the end of the month. This comes after reports that the hospital subjected emergency room patients to great risk by not giving them prompt medical attention. Larry discusses the issue with L.A. Times staff writer Charles Ornstein and Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky.

Paris Hilton Released from Jail

Paris Hilton was released from County Jail yesterday after only three days behind bars. She was to spend the rest of her sentence under house arrest wearing an ankle bracelet. However, the Judge who sentenced Hilton has ordered her back to court today to determine whether she will continue to be under house arrest or go back to jail. Larry discusses the outcome with Nick Velasquez, spokesman for City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo, and Robert Pugsley, Professor of Law at Southwestern Law School.

Senate Immigration Bill Stalls

The Senate's controversial immigration bill suffered a defeat on Thursday night, after a vote to cutoff debate and move to a final vote on the legislation ended up 15 votes short. Senator Harry Reid announced that any plan for immigration reform will be put on hold for now, as the Senate shifts its focus to energy legislation. Larry discusses the political ins and outs of the immigration bill and where it goes from here with Gail Chaddock of the Christian Science Monitor. Is the bill dead?
