Bolsa Chica

AirTalk for July 31, 2006

Bulldozers are poised to smash through a wall of sand separating the Pacific from the Bolsa Chica wetlands in Huntington Beach, allowing millions of gallons of seawater to rush into the marsh for the first time in 107 years. The Federal Drug Administration reversed its position and announced today that it will consider making the morning-after pill available without a prescription to women over 18. How Business And Government Cooperate To Cope With Global Climate Change

AirTalk for July 31, 2006

Larry talks Steve Howard, CEO of the Climate Group, a company that develops strategies for businesses and governments to deal with global climate change. Their thinking is that reversing the trend of global warming doesn't have to be a financial burden -- in fact just the opposite. If companies can operate more efficiently, use less energy and alternate means of energy, then the environment benefits as well as their bottom line. Also joining Larry is Philip Verleger, Independent Economist specializing in petroleum and energy markets.

Celebrating Mistakes

AirTalk for July 31, 2006

For every great success in America's history there is an equally spectacular failure to match it. Larry talks with journalist and author, Martin Smith, about his new book, Oops: 20 Life Lessons from the Fiascoes that Shaped America (Collins) (Collins), which celebrates ridiculous moments in history including Jimi Hendrix opening for The Monkees and the cinematic technology known as Smell-O-Vision.
