Today on AirTalk, Larry sits down with California Secretary of State Alex Padilla and election expert David Becker to discuss election security in light of the recently released Senate intelligence committee report on Russian influence in the 2016 election. We also examine the effect neutering can have on pets; and more.
Mueller Warns Election Security Threat Is Far From Over, Where Do We Stand Now?
Former Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller made one thing clear during his testimony to House lawmakers this week: Russia’s attempt to influence the 2016 election is not over.
He said their efforts are ongoing and can be expected to continue during the next campaign. He urged for more action to be taken in order to protect the country’s electoral process in the future.
Following Mueller’s hearing, the Senate intelligence committee released a report with findings on Russian’s influence. The report offers recommendations and details efforts to ramp up security efforts. Intelligence leaders have said they hope the report pushes agencies to continue working to increase election security.

Reconsidering The Industry Standard Of Spaying And Neutering Very Young Dogs
For years, spaying or neutering your dog as soon as possible has been the law of the land – but some studies in the last few years have shown that for some breeds, completing the procedure too early can have consequences down the line.
The most recent study shows a higher risk of obesity and nontraumatic orthopedic injuries (like ligament tears) in golden retrievers who were spayed or neutered under six months of age.
This supports the idea that spaying or neutering should possibly be delayed for larger dogs, which go through puberty later and therefore may suffer more consequences from the hormone changes associated with being fixed.
Most shelters, however, fix dogs early to avoid contributing to existing animal overpopulation – a problem causing many healthy animals being euthanized.
Larry sits down with advocates on both sides to debate the issue.
