San Pedro
AirTalk travels to San Pedro to examine the challenges facing that community as it tries to revive its image as a tourist destination. In the live 10-11 am broadcast, Host Larry Mantle and his guests will discuss plans for redeveloping the port area, as well as San Pedro's historic maritime culture. For decades, San Pedro has been a community in transition. Since the early 1970s, fishing and shipping-related jobs have disappeared, and San Pedro has been struggling to maintain economic viability while retaining its maritime and working class character. Joining Larry Mantle is LA City Councilwoman Janice Hahn; Port Community Advisory Council co-chairman Jayme Wilson; Random Lengths News Publisher James Preston Allen; Stacey Jones, Senior Director Engineering Development for Port of Los Angeles; David Arian, International President of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union; and Marifrances Trivelli, Executive Director of the Los Angeles Maritime Museum.
