The Chairman and CEO of Wal-Mart, Mike Duke announced plans Thursday to measure the environmental impact of all products the nation's largest retailer puts on its shelves. Wal-Mart hopes that other retailers will join them in forming a standard sustainability index over the next five years. Wal-Mart issued a questionnaire to its suppliers focusing on emissions, energy, efficiency, natural resources used, and the communities that make supplies. Will Target and Costco adopt similar standards? And how will Wal-Mart's suppliers and consumers respond? Larry Mantle learns more.
