Governor Schwarzenegger's Conflict of Interest Controversy
Governor Schwarzenegger’s multi-million dollar consulting deal with a fitness magazine is being called a conflict of interest. The details of the Governor’s deal were revealed yesterday in documents he filed with the federal Security and Exchange Commission. Last year the Governor vetoed a bill that would have regulated dietary supplements in California schools. Larry Mantle talks with LA Times staff writer Robert Salladay, Hillsborough Senator Jackie Speier, and Lawrence Leamer, a writer critical of the administration.
Orange County Journalist "Roundtable"
Larry Mantle talks with Orange County Register op-ed column editor Steven Greenhut, OC Weekly senior editorial writer and columnist, Gustavo Arellano, and LA Times staff writer Jean Pasco about the latest news events and developments in Orange County.
Hollyood Woes
Movie attendance in May and June was down by 11 percent from a year ago. If that trend continues throughout the year, the overall number of American filmgoers will be down for the third straight year. Industry analysts question whether Hollywood’s box office woes are simply a prolonged slump or a sign of impending doom. Larry speaks with Scott Foundas of the LA Weekly and Variety, and Katie Harris of Bloomberg News about the box office receipts, DVD sales, and other elements affecting the film industry’s finances.
Political Genes
Being a Dem or Republican could be in our genes. A fascinating new study by three political scientists looks at the genetic disposition of our political beliefs. Larry Mantle talks with two authors of the study, Drs. John Hibbing and John Alford.
