Larry talks to Captain Dan Finkelstein of the LA County Sheriff’s Department and Nathan Thornburg, Time magazine correspondent.
SAFETY CONCERNS AT BOB HOPE AIRPORT
An article in today’s LA Times highlights a controversy going on currently over the safety of the Burbank Airport runway and its proximity to the terminal. The FAA and the local Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport authority have said the current layout is safe. The Air Line Pilots Association disagrees. Plans exist to address the problem by moving the terminal, but they won’t be implemented for at least 10 years. Larry Mantle talks with stakeholders.
CONGRESSIONAL CALENDAR
The Supreme Court nomination process won’t be the only thing on Congress’ plate as it returns from a week-long vacation. From CAFTA to Randy “Duke” Cunningham’s ethics battle, Larry Mantle talks to Sacramento Bee’s Washington bureau chief Mike Doyle, The Nation’s John Nichols, Jonathan Kaplan from the Hill newspaper and Roll Call reporter Paul Kane.
