Shell Oil's Bakersfield Refinery To Close, FTC Launches Antitrust Investigation
The Federal Trade Commission has launched a formal investigation into Shell Oil's decision to close it's Bakersfield, California refinery this fall. Shell says it must close the plant due to declining oil production in the San Joaquin Valley. Critics of Shell suspect the real reason may be market manipulation. Larry Mantle talks with LA Times staff writer Elizabeth Douglass.
