Palestinian Infighting

A fragile ceasefire has taken hold between warring Palestinian factions in the Gaza strip. Previous truces between Hamas and Fatah militants in the area had quickly collapsed, and it appeared unlikely the two sides would comply with all the terms of the current agreement. Meanwhile the so-called "Middle East Quartet" (mediating parties from Russia, the United States, the European Union, and the United Nations) is set to meet for talks in Washington Friday to discuss a solution to the protracted crisis. Joshua Mitnick of The Christian Science Monitor and Dr. Ziad Assali of the American Task Force on Palestine join Larry for a discussion.

Janet Hirshenson and Jane Jenkins have discovered and cast many unknowns who have become some of today's best loved stars including Julia Roberts, John Cusack, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Meg Ryan. The casting directors have a new book, A Star is Found: Our Adventures Casting Some of Hollywood's Biggest Movies (Harcourt). Larry talks with them when about their process from the first casting call through auditions, meetings, and the desperate searches to cast a role.
