The Governor's Proposed Transportation Cuts And Their Effect On The California Economy
If Governor Schwarzenegger's budget passes the legislature, the $1.1 billion in gasoline tax revenue from Proposition 42 will be deferred from transportation to the general fund. This could translate into larger losses in matching federal funds, making the loss to California transportation projects as high as $3.4 billion. Experts Mark Pisano, Executive Director of the Southern California Association of Governments, Zev Yaroslavsky, LA County Supervisor and Chairman of the MTA Board, and Keith Richman, State Assemblyman representing the 38th district join Host Larry Mantle to discuss what effect this will have on California's roads, as well as the ripple effects the lost contract dollars will have on California's economy.
