In response to recent outbreaks of E. Coli in leafy green crops, the California Dept. of Food and Agriculture has developed a voluntary marketing agreement calling for stricter processing and distribution practices. Larry talks with Tim Chelling, of the Western Growers Association, and Tom Stenzel of United Fresh Produce Association, about the new policy.

L.A. County Sewage Spills

According to a new L.A. County Auditor-Controller's report, 90 percent of raw sewage spills have not been reported since 2002. Larry talks with Mark Gold, exec. director of Heal The Bay, Phil Friess, of the L.A. County Sanitation Dept., and L.A. County Supervisor Don Knabe, who commissioned the report.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee yesterday voted, 12 to 9, to oppose a troop buildup in Iraq. One Republican senator joined Democrats in voting in favor of the nonbinding resolution. Senate Democrats say they are wary of the administration's anticipated 1.2 billion dollar request for reconstruction in Iraq. How far will Congress go to impede the Bush plan?
