Dexter Scott King was only seven when an assassin's bullet took his father's life. Larry Mantle talks with the youngest son of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. about his new memoir, Growing Up King: An Intimate Memoir, (Warner Books). In it, King recounts how he dealt with the loss of his father among other family tragedies, how he turned to the teachings of his father for life lessons, and now, how he intends to carry on the King legacy. Dexter Scott King is Chairman, President and CEO of the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, Inc.

Larry Mantle talks with Patricia Stephens Due and her daughter, Tananarive. Their new book is called Freedom In The Family: A Mother-Daughter Memoir of The Fight For Civil Rights (Ballantine). It recounts the stories of Patricia and her fellow grass roots activists who fought for civil rights in the 1960's. These stories are interwoven with her daughter Tananarive's anecdotes about struggles years later at her family's home in Miami.
