Unlocking The Hidden World Of Autism
When writer Portia Iversen's son was diagnosed with autism at the age of two, she began a quest for information that led her halfway around the world, to India. There another mother, Soma Mikhopadhyay with no outside help or tools, had taught her autistic son Tito to read, write and communicate. Iverson was surprised and inspired to learn that not only did the boy have an IQ of 185, but he wrote beautiful poetry. Strange Son is the story of two mothers and sons from different worlds whose personal journeys intersected, giving researchers new insight into the mysterious world of autism.
