Afghanistan Update

AirTalk for February 25, 2003

Have you read much lately in the papers about our efforts to rebuild Afghanistan? We haven't, so we're going to speak with two experts, Dr. William Cole, director of Governance, Law, and Civil Society programs at the Asia Foundation, and Dr. Warren Haffar, Director of the International Peace and Conflict Resolution Program at Arcadia University, about the latest news from Afghanistan. Dr. Cole just returned from a year in Afghanistan, where the Asia Foundation has worked to help the Karzai government organize the Loya Jurga, or legislative body. The Asia Foundation is also helping the new government to write a constitution, develop a judiciary and much more. We'll hear about the efforts to rebuild Afghanistan and ask if the international community is doing all it promised to make a new, successful Afghanistan a reality.
