As part of an audit commissioned by City Controller Laura Chick, documents show that although the Los Angeles Fire Department has improved the ethnic diversity of its rank and file, morale among some groups remains low. According to the audit, large numbers of minorities--especially blacks and women--said they had either experienced or were aware of discrimination within the department. Larry talks to Laura Chick, City Controller, about this problem.

HOLLYWOOD LAWYER INDICTED IN PELLICANO SCANDAL

Prominent Hollywood entertainment lawyer Terry Christensen has been indicted by a federal grand jury for wiretapping. Prosecutors said Christensen paid private investigator Anthony Pellicano at least $100,000 to illegally listen in on the conversations of billionaire Kirk Kerkorian's ex-wife. The attorney was charged Wednesday with one count of conspiracy and one count of intercepting wire communications. If convicted of both, he could face up to 10 years in federal prison. Christensen is the latest of 11 people charged in an alleged wiretapping scheme involving Anthony Pellicano and Hollywood celebrities and executives.
