Angelenos will go to the polls on Tuesday, March 8th to vote in the primary election for the next Mayor of Los Angeles. Over the next weeks Larry will speak with each of the major mayoral candidates in a one on one, indepth interview. L.A. Mayor Jim Hahn joins Larry in studio this morning. Prior to being elected in 2001, Hahn served 16 years as City Attorney (1985-2001) and four years as City Controller (1981-1985).

Larry is joined in studio by Antonio Villaraigosa, candidate for mayor of Los Angeles. Councilman Villaraigosa is the Former Speaker of the California Assembly and was the National Co-Chairman of the John Kerry Presidential Campaign. He ran for mayor of L.A. in 2001.

Condoleezza Rice on Iran

Condoleezza Rice has made some strong comments about Iran recently, saying that Iran needs to comply with its international obligations regarding its nuclear program. Larry Mantle is joined by Jim Walsh, political scientist at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, Michael Donovan, Research Analyst at the Center for Defense Information, and Terence Taylor, Head of the US Office of the International Institute for Strategic Studies and a former weapons inspector. They analyze the geopolitics of the tough rhetoric and how the US is dealing with Iran diplomatically. Are UN sanctions the next step in pressuring Iran to make its nuclear program transparent? How is the EU dealing with Iran? Will the Bush Administration have to revise its stance on Iran?

What are the rights of employees to independent activities outside of the workplace? What rights do employers have to control employee behavior outside of the workplace? Larry Mantle talks with Todd Smith, adjunct professor in Employment Law at Southwestern University School of Law, about the issues involved in this case and opens the phones for audience reaction.
