Environmental Groups Threaten Port Of Long Beach With Federal Lawsuit
Two environmental groups have announced plans to sue the Port of Long Beach over diesel pollution. The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the Coalition For a Safe Environment (CFASE) sent a letter to the Port of Long Beach Wednesday. The letter gives the port 90 days to begin reducing diesel pollution emitted within its boundaries, or face a federal lawsuit. Larry talks with David Pettit, senior attorney with the Natural Resources Defense Council and director of NRDC's Southern California Air Program, and Mario Cordero, President of the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners.
Economic Stimulus Package
A 168-billion-dollar economic stimulus package has been sent to President Bush by Congress. The House voted to expand the list of rebate check recipients so that 20 million seniors and a quarter million disabled veterans get checks worth 300 dollars. Larry talks about the package with Jack Shaw, Capitol Hill reporter with Market News International.
Reviving Faith and Politics In A Post-Religious Right America
What will it take to solve the biggest issues of our time: poverty, global warming, terrorism, violence, health care, racism, etc? Theologian, preacher, author and faith-based activist Jim Wallis joins Larry Mantle to discuss his belief that only a revival of faith can spark the necessary changes in public opinion and political will on those key issues, and that spiritual transformation is necessary for social change. Wallis's book is called "The Great Awakening: Reviving Faith and Politics in a Post-Religious Right America."

Persepolis is the coming-of-age story of a precocious and outspoken young Iranian girl that begins during the Islamic Revolution. Larry talks with Marjane Satrapi, the co-director and writer of the Oscar nominated animated film, "Persepolis," which is based on her book of the same name.
