EMINENT DOMAIN
The city of Long Branch, NJ wants private developers to build beachfront town houses that will require taking the home of 80-year-old Anna DeFaria, a retired preschool teacher. Is this the work of a heartless government or a regrettable but necessary step to improving the lives of thousands of other city residents starved for housing and jobs? It’s a debate that’s raging across the nation, and southern California is no exception. Larry discusses this controversy with two experts.
IS A LOW FAT DIET REALLY GOOD FOR YOU?
A new study suggests that eating less fat does not reduce the risk of breast cancer, colon cancer and heart disease in women. But researchers are hesitant to draw too strong a conclusion from the study of nearly 49 thousand participants. They say the women in the study, who had an average age of 62, may have started their healthy eating too late. Still, it does make it unclear as to the benefits of a low-fat diet. Larry talks about the study with dietary experts.
